WHO WE ARE

 

Biosoc is the official departmental society for the University of Sheffield Animal and Plant Sciences Department. We provide a social platform for students and faculty of this department to come together in an informal setting, outside of lectures, and bond over other similar interests.

 

If you are pursuing an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree or PhD in the Animal and Plant Sciences Department at the University of Sheffield, are passionate about Biology or just want to explore the field a bit further and want to get to know your fellow students and faculty in a less than formal environment, then we are the perfect society for you!

 

WHAT WE DO

 

We organise regular social events, including strictly non-alcoholic ones. We look after the students’ best interests and act as a platform where they can get information about other events and opportunities that might interest them. We also run our departmental sports teams (football and netball, for girls and boys) and organise volunteering events with the local community. Two of our most popular events are our annual tour which is a two-three day planned holiday to a selected European destination, and our end of year departmental ball.

 

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

 

It’s easy to keep updated on our events and activities by liking our Facebook page. If you’d like to be a member, then you could drop in a message to our Facebook page or alternatively, buy a membership card and pack (which comes with discount coupons and cards for selected venues in Sheffield), at the activities fairs at the beginning of each semester.
