Socials

We’ll be making the most of the weekend with informal socials, to unwind after each day. We will be gathering in one of the SU’s bars before and after our Project Wild Thing screening on Friday. Discount vouchers for food at the union may be included in the price of tickets.

Sheffield is a cracker of a night out and has a ridiculous amount to offer, so here are a few resources to help you make the most of your stay in Sheffield.

Clubs:

Partyforthepeople is the one-stop website for information. Simply click on the events tab and go to the weekend of the 20th of March.

In terms of LGBT bars and clubs, Dempsies and Icons serve up a pretty decent night out.

Sheffield Union:

EyUp happens on the Friday 20th and has 3 rooms of Dance, Chart, Indie, RnB and Hip Hop with all drinks at £1.75 (apart from cocktails and doubles), and is only £4 advance or £5 on the door - trust me it’s really good. Pop Tarts is the simply so good. There are 2 rooms, one of which is 90s and 00s music, and the the other is 50s to 90s and has been voted best Union club night in the UK! It’s always a popular choice and tickets are £4 advance or £5 on the door (but may sell out early!). Both nights are 11am till 3am.

Pubs:

Too much choice. If you want a delicious cocktail, Bloo 88, the Bowery, Wick at Both Ends or Anchorage Bar come to mind. For a variety of delicious beers and ciders, Brew Dog, Bungalows and Bears, Harrisons 1854, the Frog and Parrott are great. Revolucion de Cuba or Iguanas serve up a great hispanic inspired selection of drinks. If you are willing to go a little further out, Kelham Island Tavern, The Fat Cat, The Riverside, The Brooklyn or the Shakespeare are a really good bet.

The Union also has Bar One and Interval bars which serve a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as food at student prices!

Food:

If you are feeling up for food, you are spoilt rotten. You can go all-you-can-eat deliciousness at Cosmo or U-Buffet, or chain restaurant at Wagamama and Nandos. Hui Wei is world renowned for Chinese Food, Sushi Express is delicious, Noodle Doodle is band new and The Milestone is insanely nice. Abbeydale road has lots of choice, and so does Leopold Square, but the list goes on and on and on.
