Workshops

The 'Workshop' is the part of the weekend that we have set aside as a session that is less physically demanding - but just as engaging! - and hopefully very useful to the different societies and universities who will be attending.

It will consist of 'round-table' discussions on different themes (ranging from

'introducing outreach' to 'careers in conservation'). Each discussion station

will be led by an invited guest or a Committee Members from

Nature Network Sheffield.

We will be welcoming back to Sheffield one of our own in Ben Le Bas - a keen member of Sheffield University Conservation Volunteers in his uni days, Ben is now Natural England's Senior Advisor for National Nature Reserves!

His station will offer participants the chance to find out how their own projects and dissertations could be carried out in association with nature reserves - resulting in those projects making a real contribution to the practical conservation efforts in the UK - and will invite you to suggest and explore ideas on how such links can be improved.

We will also be looking to throw in some entertainment - short films or

live theatrical reels from each society showcasing your proudest, most fun-filled moments are welcomed and there may even be a prize for the one that earns the most cheers!

When?

Saturday 21st March, 14:00

Where?

Student's Union, Discovery Rooms

Finally, it is during this workshop that we will come to the second core aim of the 'Peaks and City Takeover': the creation of links between our universities' groups, and the initiation of a network of Student Conservation Volunteers that will grow to a national scale. This is the time to become part of the next big student movement. Can you afford to miss it?

If you have suggestions for themes for our workshop stations that you would find useful, drop us a line and we will see what we can do - this is your event after all!
